01Is it really free?
Yes. Habits, trackers, focus, challenges, character sheet, growth tools — all free forever. Pro adds AI features and removes ads.
02Do I need a Gemini key?
For AI features, yes. Get one at aistudio.google.com, paste it in Settings → AI Coach. Stored on-device only.
03Why bring your own key?
Your data goes straight to Google, no proxy. And it keeps Pro affordable with no rate caps.
04Does my data leave the device?
Almost never. Only: AI requests (your key), barcode lookups (number only), subscription state, ads on Free. See Privacy.
05Back up or move data?
Settings → Export Data writes a JSON. Cloud sync is on the roadmap.
06How do I cancel Pro?
Store account. iOS: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Android: Play Store → Subscriptions. Lifetime has nothing to cancel.
07Bought Pro but AI still locked?
Settings → Subscription → Restore Purchases. If that fails, email me with your receipt.
08What's the Character Sheet?
Four axes — discipline, focus, confidence, clarity — from applied insights and weekly habit completions. No XP grind, just an honest mirror.
09Identity Challenges?
7-day arcs (Early Start, Deep Week). Position-based — miss a day, recover instead of reset.
10Android home widget not updating?
Open the app once, then long-press the widget and re-add. Allowlist MAX LVL in battery saver if needed.
11Feature request?
Send it. Subject "Feature" → support@maxlvl.app.
12Crisis & safety?
AI Coaches are not licensed professionals. In a crisis, contact local emergency services.
